Most political parties are formed when its founding members can see no other option and nothing being offered from the existing parties for their needs.

So to it was with the North Queensland Party.

There are just so many issues to address for the people of North Queensland, the most important being financial equity.

The money that is being generated in the north is all being squandered in the south without any say or direction by those in the North who generated it in the first place.

Sale of state owned NORTHERN assets and stripping of profits from northern-owned assets

over many years to fund burgeoning southern expenditure on infrastructure, is an insult.

• We demand financial and social equity with the south.
• Current policy centralises services to the southeast.

   

  Isolation from services and poor maintenance of northern assets is fragmenting families forced to access services in the south, particularly health.

• Historical neglect
  
• has been perpetrated on North Queensland by all Governments since the State’s inception.

   

  We cannot be blinded by promises from any party which has its base in the south east of the State.

• The time to form our own Political Party
• with allegiance to our Northern communities, has never been more perfect than now.

• The strength of a Political Party for North Queensland
• will be holding the balance of power in Parliament. We will need no more than six people on the floor of Parliament to ensure the North becomes a force in State Politics.

• Diversifying our economy
• is the answer to the problems that have affected the North.

   

  Yet all our efforts to diversify are constantly constrained by decisions made by southern–based Parties which are not in the best interests of North Queensland.

• Sustainable development
• for instance, is challenged by layers of new and threatening Government legislation that has seen the decline of timber, fishing, agricultural and dairy industries whilst we rely on imported goods.

 

• Much of this legislation is discriminatory and removes property rights without consent or compensation.  This is driven by political vote buying in the south.

   

  16% of Queenslanders live in the North and contribute 60% of the state’s export income.

NQ is one of the fastest growing areas

in Australia. We must secure a properly planned and funded future for our generations of North Queenslanders to come.

People from all political backgrounds

have joined our Party in recognition of the fact that the only way to obtain a fair go for the North is to gain the balance of power.

The balance of power

held by our party will be the only way we can obtain the political objectives which will give us financial equity with southeast Queensland.
